Boy, 16, charged with murder and possessing 'heroin and crack' after mum shot dead


A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a mother was shot dead in east London.

Lianne Gordon, 42, was killed in the attack in Hackney and a 20-year-old man and 16-year-old boy also suffered gunshot wounds, but have since been discharged from hospital.

The Metropolitan Police said a 16-year-old was detained in the early hours of Friday morning and will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The teenager has also been charged with the attempted murder of the 20-year-old man and 16-year-old boy who were injured.

The 16-year-old also faces charges for possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and with possessing class A drugs, crack cocaine and heroin, with intent to supply.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Hackney after reports of a shooting outside an address in Vine Close at 6.28pm on Tuesday evening.

Ms Gordon and the two other people who suffered gunshot wounds were not related but are believed to have known each other, police said.

Neighbours have paid tribute to the 42-year-old mother after the tragic accident, with one calling her a “very protective mother”.

Linda Ledeatte, 68, told MyLondon: “She was lovely, she was nice. It’s a shock to be honest. I heard something like that happening.

“She was bubbly, outgoing. My daughter went to school with her. They were very close, my daughter. She was a very very nice lady.”

On Saturday, the force reiterated its appeal for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
