Boy, 15, arrested after pensioner dies in horror street attack in major UK city


A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a pensioner was killed on a bustling UK city street. The police were alerted to the serious assault on Victoria Road, in the southside of Glasgow, where a 70-year-old man was found critically injured on Friday night.

The busy city street was cordoned off as emergency services rushed to the scene outside a Sainsbury’s supermarket. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene on April 12.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed: “Around 11.55pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, police were called to the Victoria Road area of Glasgow, following the reported serious assault of a 70-year-old man.”

They added: “The man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries remain ongoing.”

It has since been reported that the boy in question has been charged in connection with the incident, and will appear at Glasgow Sherriff Court on Monday.

Detective inspector Alan Ferguson adde: “At this time, our thoughts remain with the deceased’s family and friends, as they come to terms with their tragic loss. I would like to thank the local community for their assistance with our enquiries.”
