Book adaptations we can't wait to watch: 'Oppenheimer,' 'Pain Hustlers,' 'Wonka' and more

What do an Edgar Allan Poe short story, “father of the atomic bomb” J. Robert Oppenheimer and District 12’s Lucy Gray Baird have in common? They’re all getting their own movies or shows this year.

Books have been adapted to screen as long as there have been films and TV, and this year’s crop of literary adaptations promises to be a particularly good (and potentially Oscar-winning) one, bringing with it a new epic from maestro Martin Scorsese, “Dune: Part 2” and a fresh take on Alice Walker’s “The Color Purple.”

Here are some upcoming literary adaptations to get excited for, and that will hopefully inspire you to add some books to your to-be-read pile.
