The Wanamaker Trophy normally gets lifted by a heavyweight.
Brooks Koepka has three wins at the PGA Championship since 2018. Justin Thomas has two since 2017. The last two winners were Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele.
With that in mind, you’d think it would be a good idea to avoid sprinkling any long shots at Aronimink this week.
Not so fast.
Although eight of the last 10 winners of the PGA Championship came from near the top of the betting board, the other two victors in that span were triple-digit bombs.

Sungjae Im (160/1, bet365)
There aren’t too many players in this range with the all-around game that Im brings to the table.
The South Korean has been plagued by inconsistency since returning from injury in March, but he’s still finding a way to pop up on leaderboards here and there.
Im has two top-10 finishes in eight starts this season, and his most recent was a T5 at last week’s Truist Championship at Quail Hollow.
That tournament featured an elite field playing on a course that should compare well to Aronimink, so this may be the perfect time to buy in on Im’s resurgence.
Matt McCarty (250/1, DraftKings)
Sometimes it takes a lot of convincing to back a long shot in a major.
But it shouldn’t be too hard to get on board with McCarty this week.
The 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year has finished T12 or better in his last three outings, all of which came in Signature Events, including last week at Quail Hollow.
That kind of form rarely comes with this kind of price tag.
Daniel Berger (250/1, bet365)
Like Im, Berger is a player with a terrific pedigree who has found himself in the wilderness.
After grinding through some injury-plagued seasons, but he looked like he was trending in the right direction in 2025.
The Florida native posted nine top-25 finishes and a pair of top-5s in 22 starts last season, but his form this season has been less consistent.

He looked on his way to a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but he came unglued Sunday and lost in a playoff.
That is one of his two top-10 finishes in 2026.
Berger’s form since then has been spotty at best, but we’ve seen enough flashes of his immense upside to make this whopper of a price worth a hard look.
