Best cleaning tip to mop muddy floors as Storm Gerrit batters Britain

Even stepping outside for a moment, whether it’s to pop to the shops or to take the dog out for a walk, will probably lead to muddy floors once inside because of the storm.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning on Wednesday, December 27, which is also to be in place for the next day.

Heavy rain is also expected in Wales, and across central and northwestern England, which may lead to flooding.

TikTok influencer Tanya Home Inspo posted a “game changer” hack when it comes to mopping the floors.

“This hack will blow your mind,” Tanya says over the video showing two buckets and floor cleaner.

Tanya placed a smaller bucket filled with floor cleaner and boiling hot water inside of a larger bucket that has a mop strainer attached to it.

Using the smaller bucket of hot water to drench the mop, then the other bucket strainer to get rid of the excess water, Tanya proceeds to wipe her floors.

“This way you’re only using clean water to mop your floors,” Tanya revealed.

One fan, Jules_Mar, said: “You can buy buckets that have two separate parts for clean and dirty water. I have one. It’s fab.”

Tanya replied: “Yes, but if I can save people money, why wouldn’t I?”

Some fans were baffled by the hack, with Ellie Mae Mae posting: “I don’t get it.”

Another TikTok influencer, Mommy Life Squad, elaborated on the mopping hack.

“If you’re dumping your mop into the same water that you’re supposed to be cleaning your floors with, listen up,” said Mommy Life Squad.

“This is called the two-bucket mop system… just grab another bucket of your choice… and put your clean water into that bucket.”

Mommy Life Squad explained: “Now whenever you spin out, it goes into its own compartment and stays separate from the clean water.

“This ensures that when you’re cleaning your floors, you’re actually cleaning your floors.”

A TikTok commenter, Seanna said: “They make a mop bucket for this.”
