A popular chocolate bar has launched a new flavour in the UK which has left shoppers torn. KitKat is now selling a Lemony Lime flavour, which is being described by the brand as a “citrusy take”. While some chocolate-lovers have welcomed the new flavour, others have urged KitKat to “stop messing” with its original offering.
The new bar is being sold in a family-run corner shop, Sunny’s Premier Store, which is based in Stirling, Scotland. The store has amassed thousands of followers on social media due to its stocking of rare and unusual snacks. While the Lemony Lime edition is currently only available in store, consumers can soon order the treat online.
The citrusy flavour has left social media users divided in the comments online. One commented “yes please!!!” in response to an image of the bar, with another saying: “I need me some of those KitKats.”
A third echoed this, saying: “I’d love this one!” However, some people commented against the flavour launch. “NO. Just stop messing with a KitKat! There’s no need,” a user said, with another saying: “Ewww”.
One person who had tried the Lemony Lime flavour said: “Worst KitKat flavor ever.”
The snack, which reportedly came from India, received mainly negative feedback on the comments section on Instagram.
KitKat has recently launched a plethora of other new flavours such as the new Chunky Funky – this is a mixture of creamy milky and white chocolate.
As well as this, KitKat launched a Chunky Salted Caramel flavour and a Blue Riband Vanilla edition.
Rare Japanese flavours are also available to buy in the supermarket Farmfoods such as Matcha, Milk Tea and Strawberry.
In Japan, more than 300 limited edition KitKat flavours have been released, which are mainly sold regionally in the East Asian country.
