Beautiful European city just over two hours away with flights for just £30 in January


This beautiful European city just a two-and-a-half hour flight from the UK is perfect for food lovers and those looking for cheap flights. 

Budapest is the top spot for foodies on a budget, with an average meal costing just $44.54 but can be as cheap as £7.87, according to travel site Travel Trade.  

If you’re visiting Budapest for a short time, the Seventh District is the place to be.

This trendy area, also known as the Jewish Quarter, is packed with international food and buzzing bars.

Make sure to try goulash, a beef stew with paprika, onions and peppers, ans the most famous dish of Budapest.

UK flights to Budapest are usually affordable all year round and it’s just a short two hour and 25 minute journey from London.

January is the cheapest month to fly to Budapest.

During January, Budapest typically sees about 6 cm of snowfall, but sometimes it can get up to 18cm. The daylight hours increase from about eight-and-a-half hours on January 1 to roughly nine-and-a-half hours by the end of the month.

But typical of a continental European city, summers are hot and sunny. 

If you’re looking for a city break but still want a taste of Mediterranean heat then visit during the summer months of June to August.

Whilst temperatures are not as hot as the likes of mainland Spain or Greece, daytime highs can still reach and average of 26C-28C.

Budapest beauty and history attracts travellers year-round offering remarkable architecture, relaxing thermal baths, and flavourful cuisine. 

Budapest is the largest city in Hungary and is also the capital of the country.
