BBC Strictly Come Dancing star inundated with praise as they land huge West End role

Strictly Come Dancing finalist Layton Williams has bagged himself a huge lead role in the West End production of Cabaret. The Bad Education actor confirmed the exciting news on his Instagram page.

Sharing a promotional photo of himself in costume as the Emcee, Layton and the Kit Kat Club both shared: “Just announced: Layton Williams (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) joins “the best show in London” (Daily Telegraph) as Emcee from 3 June.

“16 weeks only. 3 June – 21 September. Book direct: kitkat.club. Head to our profile to find out who will be joining him in the role of Sally Bowles, Fraulein Schneider and Herr Schultz.”

Heartstopper star Rhea Norwood will also be joining Layton as she takes on the iconic role as Sally Bowles. New cast members also include the likes of Sally Ann Triplett as Fraulein Schneider.

Many of Layton’s fellow Strictly competitors have flooded him with warm messages in the comments section. Angela Scanlon posted: “AND SHE’S OFF xxxxx.”

BBC Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball said: “wowzers congrats Layton,” as another fan commented: “Oh my goodness that’s fantastic…well done…go superstar.”

Layton Williams is best known for playing Stephen Carmichael in the BBC series Bad Education, but first shot to stardom when he appeared in the West End theatre production of Billy Elliot.

The 29-year old appeared in the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing and booked himself a place in the final alongside pro-partner Nikita Kuzmin. He was defeated by Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach.

Layton also recently announced that he would be going on tour with Nikita this summer, with the first set of shows taking place in Manchester on June 30. The pair will then perform in London at Drury Lane on July 16.

The Strictly finalist will be replacing Luke Treadaway as the Emcee respectively. Rebecca Frecknall’s production of Cabaret is an immersive experience as the theatre is transformed into the Kit Kat Club.
