BBC Question Time audience applauds after panellist rips into SNP's 'indefensible' record

A Scottish Tory MSP ripped into the SNP’s record during a fiery BBC Question Time moment.

Scottish Conservative deputy leader Meghan Gallacher insisted SNP MSP Angela Constance was “trying to defend the indefensible” during a debate on improving education in Scotland.

She said: “I think Angela is trying to defend the indefensible when it comes to the SNP’s track record.”

Ms Gallacher’s comments prompted loud applause from the audience of the show in Kelso.

The Scottish Tory MSP, who is a rising star within the party, went on: “Early years is really important to me, not just because I’m a parent of a 17-month-old, but because I’ve taken a lot of time to speak to nursery owners about the challenges they face just now.

“Because we do know the nursery sector is in crisis, we do know nurseries are closing their doors across these communities.

“It’s more crucial for rural communities because if nurseries are taken out of the heart of rural communities then that is going to have an adverse effect.”
