Nicky Campbell was inundated with messages from viewers who got more than they bargained for.
The 5 Live broadcaster was admittedly left red-faced when a throwback video circulated online of the young presenter wearing nothing but a guitar.
It comes after a clip of Nicky recorded almost 30 years ago began doing the rounds when he presented the music show Top of the Pops and a re-run of the episode aired on BBC Four on Friday.
In the video, a naked Nicky was on stage with just the guitar protecting his modesty, as he told the Top of the Pops audience, “The George Michael video exclusive, his first solo material for four years.
He continued: “It’s rumoured to have scenes of nudity and sexual depravity. Well, it doesn’t so I thought I must make up for it myself.”
The now 63 year old retweeted the clip to share with his 191,000 followers who all said the same thing.
An X user took to the platform and wrote: “Seeing a naked Nicky Campbell isn’t usually on my list of things to do on a Friday night… yet here we are #totp #totp1996.”
One wrote: “TV Gold,” while another commented: “Love it!”
A third wrote: “Was the guitar superglued or no more nailed to your Crown Jewels Nicky?”
A fourth quizzed: “Is that where Richard Curtis got the idea for Bill Nighy to perform naked in Love Actually years later?”
