BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty calls medics for help after co-star suffers injury on air

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty humorously announced “medics are on their way” after her co-star experienced an unfortunate mishap live on air.

During Friday’s episode (May 10), the seasoned broadcaster, aged 49, welcomed viewers back to the show alongside her co-host Charlie Stayt. The pair engaged in discussions about some of the day’s most pressing news stories.

These included the protests that occurred during the Eurovision semi-finals, a surge in whooping cough cases, and the news that the UK has finally emerged from recession. Later in the programme, they invited meteorologist Simon King to deliver the latest weather forecast.

Naga initiated the segment by stating that despite the splendid weather the UK has been experiencing this week, the BBC Breakfast team couldn’t enjoy it due to their work commitments. She quipped: “I tell you what else is a crowd pleaser, the idea of laying out in the sun, chilling out, catching some rays.”

“I mean obviously we can’t do it because we’re working as all of the BBC Breakfast team does. We work really hard and are committed to bringing you the day’s news.”

The camera shifted to the weatherman sitting in the heart of the Blue Peter gardens in Salford.

In a sunshine-filled scene, he was pictured lounging in a deckchair, sunglasses on. Naga cheekily commented on her co-star, remarking: “Oh, well most of us are!”

Happily surrounded by the sounds of seagulls and ice cream vans, the weather reporter cheerfully presented his report. As it concluded, Charlie probed Simon about whether he had the ability to put up the deck chair without any help.

Charlie quipped: “I question whether he put the deckchair up himself because you know sometimes people get into a pickle with that kind of thing. He didn’t did he?”

With Simon confirming that he hadn’t, but was ready for the challenge, he began to disassemble the chair. As he did so, Naga cautioned him not to harm his fingers.

Ignoring her warning, Simon ended up jamming his fingers in the deckchair during the process of reassembling it. The sound of Naga’s uncontrollable laughter filled the air as Simon writhed from the unexpected pain before settling back down.
