Bargain Hunt guest speechless as bonus buy makes huge profit after expert's low valuation

Bargain Hunt left one couple speechless after their expert’s bonus buy item made a huge profit. The BBC programme returned on Tuesday (April 30), hosted by Eric Knowles.

He headed to Norfolk’s biggest antique centre, where he met the two teams. The red team was made up of married couple Ivan and Sally, while the blue team was also a married couple, called Sharon and Joe.

The teams were both handed £300 and were joined by their assigned expert. Aiding Ivan and Sally was Caroline Hawley, while Mark Stacey joined forces with Sharon and Joe.

The red team were tasked with finding a scent-related item, and they went on to purchase a silver-top scent bottle for £22.

They also spent £23 on a vase and went all out for their big spend, handing over £140 for a silver bracelet after having just 20 seconds left on the clock.

Meanwhile, the blue team were given the challenge of finding an item that makes a noise. They got their hands on brass gavel for just £9.

They also bought a 19th century brass holy water pot for £42, and their big spend was £95 on a golden pheasant.

The auction arrived and the teams were nervous to find out how much they had made. After their first three items went up for auction, the red team ended up with a loss of £31.

Caroline attempted to save the day with her bonus buy, presenting the couple with silver menu holders. The expert purchased them for £80, but they only went for £65.

That took the team’s total loss to £46. Meanwhile, the blue team also failed to make a profit after their three items were auctioned off. With a £43 loss, Mark arrived with his bonus buy item.

He showcased a scent bottle from the Victorian era, purchased for £80. Eric turned to Elizabeth Talbot to find out what price she believed the item would go for at auction. She suggested a “modest” £30 – £50. But the couple were in for a shock when the scent bottle was auctioned off for £100 more than expected.

The item sold for a total of £130. Sharon and Joe couldn’t believe it, as she simply responded: “Wow. That’s amazing.” This turned their loss into a profit of £7, meaning they were the day’s winners.
