Banana bread recipe uses just three ingredients to make it 'moist and delicious'

Baking a cake from scratch is the perfect weekend activity but many recipes call for an extensive list of costly ingredients.

Luckily for fans of the humble banana bread, this doesn’t have to be the case.

With the right recipe such as this one by baking expert Candice Bannister, founder of Candy’s Cupcakes, it’s easy to make with just three simple ingredients.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, she said: “Thanks to the combination of golden syrup and bananas, you don’t need to worry about this banana bread coming out of the oven too dry, as both ingredients will keep it moist and delicious.

“You must make sure your bananas are fully ripe though, as this will make the banana bread taste sweeter and more flavoursome.”

The recipe couldn’t be easier to follow with the all-in-one method which takes just minutes to prepare.

Method

Preheat the oven to 180C and line a standard-sized loaf tin with parchment paper. It may help to butter the tin a little to ensure this stays in place.

Start the cake mixture by peeling and mashing the bananas in a large mixing bowl, using a fork. The chunkier the banana mixture, the more textured it will be once baked.

Next, weigh out the flour and carefully sieve it into the banana mixture, combining everything with a spoon to make a thick dough.

Measure the golden syrup ready to add into the bowl for a kick of sweetness. It may help to grease a spoon with oil before transferring it into the bowl so it doesn’t stick.

Once the syrup has been added to the bowl, mix everything to form the final dough. Just before transferring the mixture into the tin, stir in half a cup of raisins or chocolate chips for extra flavour.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the loaf is nicely golden brown.
