Baked potatoes taste ‘so good’ when you ditch the oven

Baked potatoes can take up to an hour, or more, for them to be ready when cooked in the oven. Plus, that’s an extra electricity expense when the baked potato can be cooked much more quickly – without losing its crispy exterior and fluffy insides.

HelloFresh’s senior recipe development manager Mimi Morley revealed how to make a “mouth-watering baked potato that’s so good” to eat. Mimi said: “All you need is three simple ingredients, plus your favourite toppings, a microwave and an air-fryer. And in under 20 minutes, you’ll be eating a delicious British classic. No more waiting around for more than an hour.”

Morley added: “As someone who loves bold flavours, I like to experiment a little with my toppings.

“Cheese is a staple topping, but why not try a blue cheese instead of cheddar for a little more complexity?

“It pairs well with a bacon crumb, sour cream and chives, perfectly complementing the crisp skin.”

The recipe creator encourages people to “have a little fun” with cooking by adding any topping you desire.

Baked potato recipe

Ingredients

  • Potatoes
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Butter
  • Cheese
  • Plus, toppings of your choice

Method

1. Scrub your potato and thoroughly pat it dry. Use a fork to stab holes all around your potato.

2. Microwave your potato on high for 10 minutes. Once cooked through, put on a board, drizzle with oil and season with salt.

3. Then, carefully cut your potato in half and liberally apply butter to the inside of the potato, using a fork to mash it in.

4. If you’re topping with cheese, you can also add it now. Transfer the potato to your pre-heated air fryer, cut side up for five minutes on high. Add your favourite toppings and enjoy!
