Supermarket aisles are abuzz with festive cheer as Christmas 2025 approaches, and shoppers are already on the lookout for the best deals and award-winning products to make their celebrations special. With numerous options available, supermarkets across the UK are competing to offer the finest seasonal fare, from succulent turkeys to indulgent desserts.
Aldi, a rapidly growing discount retailer with over 1,050 stores across the UK, has once again demonstrated its prowess in the festive food market, sweeping an impressive 20 accolades at the prestigious Good Housekeeping Christmas Awards 2025. The retailer showcased Christmas dinner staples for as little as £2.49, which is the price of its Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets. Crunchy roasties were also featured in the award-winning lineup. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Achieving 20 product accolades overall is no small feat – nor is having our products top multiple categories, including pigs in blankets and roast potatoes, despite being the lowest price.”
The Good Housekeeping Institute sampled 20 options from top brands and supermarkets to identify the most delicious items.
Among the standout winners, Aldi’s Specially Selected The Ultimate Specially Selected Wagyu Fat Roast Potatoes (£2.99, 800g) were crowned the best in their category, outshining pricier alternatives from Tesco and Sainsbury’s, which were placed second and third.
The rival supermarkets are offering the same weight of product for £5, giving Aldi the edge on pricing. These luxurious roast potatoes promise a rich flavour profile that many people find hard to master when cooking them from scratch.
For an essential festive side, the Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets (£2.49, 250g) also claimed the top prize in their category, beating stiff competition from premium retailers like M&S.
These double-wrapped delights promise a satisfyingly meaty and flavourful addition to the Christmas spread.
Those seeking the finest festive fizz need look no further than Aldi’s Veuve Monsigny Premier Cru Champagne (£22.99, 75cl), which was awarded “Best Value Champagne” by the judges.
This budget-friendly champagne was up against Pommery Brut Royal (£33 at Amazon), which took the top spot for “best Champagne” overall.
Beyond these, Aldi also secured awards for other festive favourites. The DIY Gingerbread House Kit (£5.99, 900g) was recognised as the “Best Gingerbread House Kit”, surpassing more expensive options from Cadbury’s, Sainsbury’s, and Biscuiteers.
For Christmas puddings, the Specially Selected 24-Month Matured Christmas Pudding (£7.99, 800g) earned the “Best Value” prize, while the Specially Selected Orange and Maple Christmas Pudding (£9.99, 800g) was named “Best Flavoured Christmas Pudding”.
Traditionalists will appreciate the Specially Selected All Over Iced Rich Fruit Cake (£9.49, 907g), celebrated as the “Best Value” Christmas cake.
Aldi lost out in the Christmas dinner centrepiece category, with its “Specially Selected British Roast-in-the-Bag Roly Poly Stuffed Turkey Crown” (£31.48–£48.28, 1.5–2.3kg), receiving a runner-up position after Asda.
It was the Exceptional by ASDA Norfolk Slate Traditional Heritage Breed Turkey Crown (£50.04) that the Good Housekeeping panel recommends as the top pick this year.
Shoppers can find these award-winning products in Aldi stores from now until Christmas.
