Airbus Atlantic chaos as 700 staff off sick with violent bug

Over 700 Airbus Atlantic staff have reportedly fallen ill after the company’s Christmas dinner, with vomiting and diarrhoea among the harsh symptoms experienced by the workers, according to the BBC.

It is unknown exactly what in the Christmas meal has caused the outburst, which comes just days before the big day. Airbus did not “immediately respond” to the BBC’s request for comment.

The ARS health agency could not provide details either, although did confirm on Friday that diners were showing “clinical signs of vomiting or diarrhoea”. An investigation is now being launched to try to find out he source of the mass food poisoning.

Airbus Atlantic is a subsidiary of the world’s largest aircraft maker, Airbus. It employs about 15,000 people across five countries, while Airbus itself has a total of 134,000 employees. Airbus provides products and services in the aircraft, helicopter, defence, space and security industries.

There have been many cases of food poisoning before involving French people. Earlier this year, a number of people got ill, while one Greek national died, after getting the rare food-borne disease botulism, from a Bordeaux restaurant.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s French-laden team were the beneficiaries from a bizarre food poisoning incident in 2006 when their North London and league rivals Tottenham Hotspur suffered a mass food poisoning event after eating some dodgy lasagne.

It was the last match of the season and Tottenham only needed to match Arsenal’s result to secure a Champions League spot for the following season, however the much-depleted team went down to a 2-1 loss while Arsenal won 4-2.
