Agapanthus will ‘push more flower stems up’ if gardeners do 1 thing

0

They look marvellous in pots and containers placed on patios and outdoor spaces. The agapanthus loves to sit in full sun and hot spots in the garden.

The agapanthus will start growing flower stems in early summer in readiness for a mid to late summer floral display. The plant is happiest when its roots are compacted in stoney and rocky ground and pot-bound. The roots want to push up against the edges of pots and rocks, and stones in the ground.

This will encourage the agapanthus to flower, pushing more flower stems up.

We should feed them nutritious plant food every so often throughout the growing season and give them a sprinkle of water every few days. They can tolerate drought conditions, which means we can let them grow and thrive without too much work.

Agapanthus love to be in the sun and air during the warmer months; however, when deep winter comes along, you should cover them with a fleece.

This prevents the plants from getting frost-bitten and damaged. So let’s enjoy the agapanthus, it’s a mid to late summer spectacle.
