Absolute bonfire' as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'trash their reputations'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2023 has been slated as an “absolute bonfire” by one seasoned royal-watcher, who said that their future has uncertain prospects.

Speaking on Sky News Australia, the Daily Mirror’s Royal Editor Russel Myers gave his scathing assessment of the pair’s behaviour this year, who he says have been “trashing their relationships”.

He said: “What has happened with Harry and Meghan has been an absolute bonfire. Not only trashing their reputations but their relationships with the Royal Family.”

According to Myers, Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’ was a key moment in the disgraced couple’s estrangement from the Royal Family and a “lowlight” of the year.

Describing the memoir as an “absolute bombshell”, Myers said: “He [Harry] is still picking up the pieces of his battered relationship with his father and his brother” nearly a year on from its publication.

Myers added: “Absolutely nobody… was spared from the barbs in that book”.Whilst it may have topped the bestselling lists upon its release last January, Harry’s autobiography was nothing but destructive.

‘Spare’ included dramatic revelations about his relationship with Prince William. Most shockingly, it alleged that the Prince of Wales attacked his brother during an argument, resulting in visible injury.

According to author Tom Quinn, these allegations have caused a rift between the two brothers that will “never be healed”.

When asked about the Sussexes’ future, Myers admitted: “I can’t imagine what’s going to happen”.He said that even if he gave a prediction on Harry and Meghan’s future, the reality would probably be “completely the opposite”.

Quoting Markle’s claims that she has “so many more exciting things on the slate” in the next year, Myers said that the couple’s future was uncertain and told viewers to “wait and see”.

This comes amid speculation that the Sussexes will be “inundated” with business opportunities in 2024, although much evidence of this is yet to emerge.

The pair have been haunted by a raft of financial difficulties this year, including cancelled deals and hefty legal fees.Markle’s animated series ‘Pearl’ was cancelled by Netflix this year, as was the couple’s $20m deal with Spotify.

Harry’s row with the Mail on Sunday over a libel case lost him nearly £48,000, and it’s thought that the upcoming trial against Associated Newspapers will cost him even more.
