It’s not the only piece of advice you may want to follow to aid the problem too. Just a few days ago, drivers were urged to put a common household item on their windscreens to help.
The topic recently came up on Reddit, when a driver asked: “Seriously, what is the trick to demisting your car windowscreen? At my age, I should know the answer.
“But it bemuses me every morning. What is the trick? What’s the science? Hit me. Thanks.” Luckily, people were quick to chime in with their responses.
One person said: “Use the air-con and heated air at the same time. The air-con dries the incoming air and the heated air evaporates the condensation. Never turn the air-con off. It keeps the air dry so the car feels warmer.”
Another suggested: “People don’t realise the air conditioning acts as a dehumidifier.” A third also wrote: “If you get a lot of condensation, those reusable moisture removers work pretty well. Throw a couple up on your dash at night.”
Meanwhile, a fourth also added: “Have air-con on all the time throughout the winter months. Set it to auto at the desired temperature.
“Hardly adds to fuel consumption, clears the windscreen quickly and keeps it clear. I only found out about this watching a video a year ago.”
