A Place in the Sun host walks off minutes into show after buyer's staggering verdict

A house search almost came to an early end on Tuesday’s (May 7) episode of A Place in the Sun as presenter Ben Hillman walked off just minutes into the show and shouted his goodbyes.

The Channel 4 presenter was on hand to help Liv from Wiltshire find her dream holiday home. She was looking for a property on the west coast of Cyprus with a budget of £87,000 and help from her good friend Daisy.

The 20-year-old said she also had a boyfriend to consider when making her final purchase. Ideally, she would have liked a two-bedroom apartment, close to the sea, with a communal pool and modernised. There was wiggle room for a few thousand pounds, taking Liv’s overall budget to £90,000.

The first home that Ben pulled out of the bag was a two-bedroom apartment in Argaka for £83,000. It had a balcony with a great view, a good sized living area and was bright and modern.

Walking into the living room, Liv said: “It is completely what I’m looking for.” Ben pretended to walk off as he said: “See you later!” He turned back around to the girls as he added: “What a great start.”

Later on, while standing on the balcony, the girls said: “Beautiful!” Daisy added: “I think you’ve won with this one.”

Ben asked: “Have I found you your perfect property?” The buyer’s friend replied: “You’ve found me my perfect holiday home!”

Pleased with himself, property expert Ben joked that his job was done. Speaking to the camera he said: “While I’m not one to count my chickens, I think I’ve cracked this one.”

The Channel 4 presenter went on to show Liv and Daisy four more properties that he felt met their needs. The girls seemed impressed with most of them, but none seemed to live up to the same standards as the first property they had been shown.

However, in the end, it was the final apartment that won their hearts. With a spacious living space and on the market for just under £94,000, Liv wanted to make an offer of £80,000 due to the kitchen needing some work and poor views.

The offer was rejected, with the vendor saying they didn’t want to drop below £85,000. Liv said her maximum and final offer was £82,000 – It was accepted.
