Fans of this incredible and intriguing yet dark war film have said that it is a must-watch. The independent film has been commended for its cast, cinematography, and captivating storytelling. A number of fans revealed that they were surprised to find that the film is based on true events, and one viewer even said it is “one of the best World War II movies [they’ve] seen in years.”
The Captain, currently streaming on Amazon Prime tells the story of a German army deserter that comes across a Nazi Captain’s abandonded uniform during the final weeks of the war. With his newfound power under impersonation, he takes command of a group of stragglers and then a camp that holds German soldiers accused of desertion.
Fans on Rotten Tomatoes, where the film has an 83% score, have warned of the dark content and violence. However, many have also vowed that it is a definite watch.
