‘Lovely’ UK beach ‘better than Bondi’ when you can spot seals | UK | Travel

When the sun shines in the UK, there’s no need to jet off abroad – especially if you’re lucky enough to live in Essex. With a stunning coastline stretching over 350 miles, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches.

One particular favourite is Walton-on-the-Naze, beloved not just for its sunny weather but also for its range of amenities and sandy shores. The beach at Walton-on-the-Naze is a generous expanse of sand, segmented by wooden groynes and a couple of breakwaters. The sand here is perfect for building castles, making it a hit with the little ones.

Walton’s beach is ideal for families. The sand gently slopes into the sea, providing safe bathing conditions, and there’s a lifeguard service during the summer months. You’ll find plenty of facilities catering to beach-goers, from traditional seaside amusements to a selection of beachside cafés.

If you need anything else, Walton town is just a stone’s throw away, offering shops, pubs and eateries. The beach is also conveniently located near Walton Pier, an amusement complex complete with tenpin bowling, funfair rides, arcade games, a bar and cafe, and even sea fishing opportunities.

Local residents are utterly smitten with the beach, and their love for it extends beyond the summer months. It’s renowned for the unusual treasures you can discover, such as fossils and seals frolicking in the sea.

Stefanie, a visitor to the beach, shared her review on TheBeachGuide, stating: “Love Walton on the naze very family friendly. Head away from the pier towards the naze end for a quieter experience and if you have a dog. Look out for sharks teeth and amazing shells on lovely sandy beaches.”

Another anonymous beach-goer chimed in with their own glowing review: “Without a doubt one of the best beach in the world.

“I’ve been to Bondi and this beach is 10 times better and without the sharks. It’s spotlessly clean and offers safe bathing from a blue flag beach. If you get the right weather it’s like being in paradise.”
