Inflation has affected the price of many items in the supermarket and Brits may be feeling the extra pinch when it comes to buying their Easter chocolate in 2025. A new study by Spin Genie UK analysed the prices of the most popular Easter chocolate from 2020 to 2025 to calculate the average percentage price increase. They also used compound growth to predict what these easter chocolates will cost in the year 2030.
Aside from Easter eggs, there are a number of chocolate favourites that are quite popular around Spring time. In the UK, popular choices include Cadbury Mini Eggs, Cadbury Creme Eggs and Lindt Gold Bunny Milk Chocolate. Over the last year, Spin Genie’s study found, all of these items have seen price increases. Increases between 2020 and 2030 are expected to be as much as 90 per cent, the study has revealed, with customers already paying significantly more in 2025 than they were five years ago.
When it comes to an 80g bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs, the average 2020 price was £1.15. That has risen to £2.19 in 2025 and is expected to reach £4.17 in 2030, Spin Genie predicts.
Cadbury Creme Eggs have also seen price increases since the year 2020. Five years ago, a 40g Cadbury Creme Egg would cost, on average, 58p. Five years later, customers pay around 99p for the same product, marking an increase of 11.29 per cent. By the year 2030, these Easter favourites could cost as much as £1.69, marking a significant 10-year price increase.
The study aso examined the price changes for Lindt Gold Bunny Milk Chocolate (100g) and found that it jumped from £2.99 in 2020 to £4.25 in 2025, on average. In five years time in 2030, it may cost £6.04.
When it comes to the Easter eggs themselves, chocolate fans have already been noticing a big difference in 2025. According to a number of Reddit users, many of the Easter eggs already purchased in 2025 aren’t as egg-shaped as they once were, with many appearing “flattened”.
One Reddit user, u/cryd123 said: “Has anyone else noticed that this year’s Easter eggs aren’t actually egg-shaped? They’re weirdly flat – like someone sat on them before they hit the shelves.”
Other users agreed with one person claiming that they have been getting “flatter” every year.
