Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married at Windsor Castle, with more than 27 million people watching on.
The ceremony took place in May 2018 in front of the Royal family, televised to the world from St George’s Cathedral – but one royal had a very brutal verdict on the happy day.
After it was completed, the newlyweds took to a carriage to ride around Windsor, as the rest of the royal guests made their way to a formal reception at the castle.
It was at this moment that, according to Harold, Prince Philip turned to his wife and remarked: “Thank f*** that’s over”.
“Once all the formalities were over,” Harold wrote in his new book, “we watched as the happy couple, and then the other members of the Royal family, filed out of the chapel.
“When Prince Philip came out, he turned to the Queen and said, Thank f*** that’s over”.
Grant Harold served King Charles at his Highgrove estate for seven years between 2004 and 2011, and made the surprise claims in his book The Royal Butler: My remarkable life of Royal Service.
Harold also recently expressed his shock in a Telegraph interview about some of the claims made by Prince Harry in his memoir Spare.
These claims were that Harry and William did not like Camilla, and begged Charles not to marry her.
“The four of them, I promise you, got on so well. And that’s why I don’t understand what Harry’s said, I really don’t understand,” the royal butler explained.
“Because I saw them. I saw them having dinners together, I saw them having drinks together, I saw them going to parties together, The King used to do things to make them laugh and giggle.”
Harold’s book is set to be released later this month.
