Pancakes will come out extra fluffy and delicious if you use these 2 common ingredients

Pancakes are best when they are extra fluffy, and a delicious stack of them in the morning is the perfect way to start the weekend. If you plan to make a batch soon then there are two ingredients that you should add to your mix to ensure that they come out perfectly.

Reddit users shared tips on how to get that restaurant-style fluff and texture when it comes to pancakes, after a fellow user shared that whenever they make pancakes “they turn out floppy and flat and boring”. While many shared different techniques, there were multiple people that vouched for the use of two specific ingredients.

Home cooks claimed that the use of baking soda and vinegar is the key to fluffy pancakes, with someone referring to a recipe they found on All Recipes.

One person wrote: “This works for anything you want to make fluffy including cakes and muffins. Just mix the baking soda with your dry ingredients, and the vinegar with the liquids in your recipe. Then get the stuff cooking within five minutes of mixing.”

Svferris recommended the All Recipes method, vouching that it gave them “the fluffiest pancakes” they have ever made, before adding that they “think the vinegar and baking soda combo is key”.

And they are not the only one who swears by the recipe.

Othersomethings added: “This is the recipe I use, and as long as my batter isn’t too runny and I don’t over beat it, they are classic diner fluffy pancakes.”

While in a separate comment, slobberkiss also suggested it, echoing the idea of vinegar and baking soda being the reason for the great results.

They wrote: “Best pancakes I ever made! The combination of vinegar, baking powder and baking soda is what makes them fluffy and delicious.”

Find the easy recipe here:

Ingredients for fluffy pancakes:

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Cooking spray

Method:

Step 1

Gather all ingredients.

Step 2

Combine milk and vinegar in a medium bowl and set aside for five minutes to make sour milk.

Step 3

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.

Step 4

Whisk egg and butter into soured milk.

Step 5

Pour flour mixture into milk mixture and whisk until lumps are gone.

Step 6

Heat a large skillet over medium heat, and coat it with cooking spray. Pour 1/4 cupfuls of batter onto the skillet, and cook until bubbles form and the edges are dry, about two to three minutes.

Step 7

Flip with a spatula, and cook until browned on the other side. Repeat with remaining batter.
