‘Beautiful’ UK seaside village is ‘perfect’ for family staycation | Travel News | Travel

As summer is here, many are planning mini getaways and outdoor escapades to make the most of the sunny season. While jetting off abroad is always fun, it can burn a hole in your pocket and long flights means you might have to take more time off work.

Fortunately, Britain is brimming with fabulous staycation destinations that promise unique adventures and days out without the hefty price tag.

One of these beautiful spots can be found in Wales. Aberporth Bay boasts two stunning beaches – Dolwen and Dyffryn. They are wide, sandy beaches that are popular with families and ideal for building sandcastles and exploring rockpools. You may even spot dolphins in Cardigan Bay. The spot is also popular for divers, boats and people who enjoy fishing.

Despite being a small seaside village, Aberporth has an array cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants visitors can choose from.

Speaking about the holiday spot, Wales Cottage Holidays states: “This charming corner of West Wales offers the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, making it an ideal destination for families, couples, and even those seeking a dog-friendly getaway.”

Recently, one mum named Elin visited the spot and shared a video on TikTok. She said: “This is Aberporth! Stunning little seaside town! In Cardigan in West Wales! Add it to your summer must visit list.”

Elin, who shared money tips and mum life on her page boasting over 13,900 followers, says the spot is a “must visit this summer.” She enjoyed picturesque walks by the sea with her daughter, visited quaint cafes, spent time by the beach, and even visited an icecream parlour.

Commenting on the post, one person wrote: “Cardigan is a seperate town further down the coast , the area is Ceredigion, Aberporth is my favourite place. Aberaeron is the next most beautiful.”

“I spent every summer as a child in a cottage on the green opposite the pub,” commented another. One local said: “We’re so lucky to live where we do.”

“Looks beautiful,” commented one other.

How to get to Aberporth

You can get a train to Aberystwyth or Carmarthen followed by an hour’s drive. Alternatively, from Carmarthen Railway Station, get a bus to Synod Inn. The drive is then just 15 minutes.

While West Wales Airport is nearby, it is used for supply services, military and similar aircrafts. The closest airport for visitors is Cardiff International. A drive from the airport takes just over two hours, or three with traffic.
