UK seaside town where a pint is £6.30 is ‘most expensive place to drink’ | Travel News | Travel

A popular UK seaside town is officially home to Europe’s most expensive pints, beating out  London for the top spot. According to research from credit card brand Aqua, Brighton has the most expensive pints out of 50 cities across the continent.

A pint in Brighton will set you back an average of £6.30. London is second on the list with an average price of £6.20 and Cambridge is third with pints priced at an average of £6. Despite its pricey drinks, Brighton is an immensely popular holiday destination.

Famous for its music, food and of course its beach, Brighton makes for a perfect day trip – but if you want to, you could easily spend longer. Time Out recently named Brighton as one of the best 50 cities in the world and it’s easy to see why.

It draws 11.8million visitors from England alone every year and its quirky five mile long promenade is perfect for a day of wandering. There’s karaoke bars, restaurants, independent shops and of course, plenty of pubs.

There’s also the grand Royal Pavillion, which began construction in 1787 and is truly a marvel of architecture.

Built in the Indo-Saracenic style inspired by Indian architecture, this Pavillion was used as a seaside resort for Prince George of Waled in 1811, then King George IV in 1820.

Today, the building is open to the public for tours and the majestic gardens are second to none.

If you’d rather do some retail therapy, then you’ll want to visit The Lanes. These labyrinthine streets are jam packed with coffee shops and vintage markets that you can get pleasantly lost in.

For a little more nature, just outside town you can explore the UK’s largest dry valley. Devil’s Dyke is the perfect spot for an aimless wander through the stunning rolling green hills, and a gorgeous spot to watch the sunset.
