Several destinations would make brilliant travel spots for Disney enthusiasts. If you’ve been longing to live like a Disney princess for a few days, there are multiple options available in France.

You can visit the Disneyland Hotel situated within the Disneyland Paris theme park. Alternatively, the vibrant village of Colmar will whisk you into the animated world of your beloved Disney film. However, there are two cities that actually served as the inspiration for the “little town” where Belle from Beauty and the Beast was raised: Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé.

Riquewihr, approximately an hour’s drive from Strasbourg, boasts streets that appear lifted directly from the film.

It’s been dubbed one of the “prettiest villages in France” and features bright and colourful houses lining the cobblestone pathways.

Beyond wandering its winding thoroughfares, visitors should explore the city’s wine cellars, according to Traveling Igloo.

It boasts a thriving winery community, providing tastings and delicious food.

The town is famed for its markets, offering a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, jewellery, clothing and more.

It also hosts a Christmas market in December that transforms the town into a winter wonderland.

Ribeauvillé is one of the oldest medieval towns in France’s Alsace region, boasting historical architecture near the ruins of the Three Castles of the Lords of Ribeaupierre.

The town’s picturesque vineyards have been a staple since the Middle Ages, according to Visit Alsace.

It also features local shops and markets for visitors to explore, and it’s recommended to plan trips around one of the community’s famous festivals, such as the Wine Fair or the Festival of Ancient Music.

Fancy visiting both? The two villages are just a 10-minute drive apart.
