Parts of the UK are braced for a barrage of rain within hours. The latest weather maps from WX Charts show a deluge of rainfall arriving tomorrow morning (Monday, July 14) with downpours expected throughout the day.

The wet weather will sweep over Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the South West region of England. Up to 5mm of rain could fall per hour in Scotland at 3pm while it will be wettest in parts of western Ireland from 9pm. According to the Met Office, thunder could develop across the UK and push northeast. Meanwhile, western areas of the nation could see “cooler and fresher” air.

It comes as the UK remains in its third heatwave of 2025 so far, with temperatures surging across the nation. The UK UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Met Office has issued an amber heat-health alert for six regions until tomorrow.

However, conditions are set to change dramatically with rain forecast tomorrow. According to WX Charts, there will be rainfall in Limerick, Londonderry and Dundalk at 9am.

Meanwhile, in Scotland, Kilmarnock and Ayr will see downpours at the same time. There will also be wet weather in the Lake District, the Lancashire coastline, Swansea, Cardiff, Plymouth, Exeter and Taunton.

The rain will leave much of England and Wales by 12pm but remain in Ireland and Scotland. Edinburgh, St Andrews and Perth will see the heaviest downpours with up to 5mm per hour forecast to fall.

By 9pm, the rain will gradually move northwards to the Scottish Highlands. There will also be heavy showers in parts of western Ireland.

The Met Office is predicting further rain and showers from Tuesday (July 15) to Thursday (July 17). The forecaster added that temperatures could fall on Tuesday, with “fresher air reaching all”.

Here is the full list of areas that will be hit by the rain tomorrow (Monday, July 14):

  • Limerick
  • Londonderry
  • Dundalk
  • Kilmarnock
  • Ayr
  • Edinburgh
  • St Andrews Perth
  • Scottish Highlands

Tonight:

Showery rain developing over parts of the south and west, with a chance of thunder across Northern Ireland. Low cloud in the east progressing inland again. A warm night.

Monday:

Showers, with a few thunderstorms, pushing northeast through the day interspersed by sunny spells. Cooler and fresher air follows from the west, but still warm in parts of the east.
