Meghan Markle was heavily criticised after her lifestyle brand announced that they are going to release a new rose wine on a key royal date. The Duchess of Sussex launched a restock of some of her products that were previously sold out on Friday, featuring one new product in two versions: an apricot spread with and without keepsake packaging.
Meghan restocked all seven of her original eight products, apart from her raspberry jam, with all products now being listed as sold out on the As Ever website. But she also teased the release of yet another As Ever product, rose wine, which will hit the e-shelves on July 1. Royal fans were quick to notice that the wine launch is on what would have been the late Princess Diana’s 64th birthday.
The late Princess of Wales was born on July 1, 1961. She died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, aged 36.
The latest coincidence did not sit well with various of Meghan’s critics, with commentator Victoria Arbiter taking to her X account to share the news and simply comment: “July 1st, Diana’s birthday…”
Royal fans followed suit and criticised the Duchess for releasing a new product on such a key royal date.
One user said she was “flogging cheap wine” while another said: “She is incredibly tone-deaf.”
Another added: “Yes, now tacky of Madame Markle to pick that specific date.”
Meanwhile, one person blasted: “Meghan needs to stop living her life according to the Royal calendar.”
However, others were excited about Meghan’s new release.
One user wrote on Instagram: “Yes this is what I’ve been waiting for.”
Another user noted on X: “Not really a wine drinker, but I may suddenly become one.”
A third one said: “And coming straight from Napa. Love it x her!”
