Zara Tindall is celebrating her 44th birthday today, Thursday, May 15. Although she is not a working member of the Royal Family, Princess Anne’s only daughter is best known for her bubbly persona, iconic fashion and of course her incredible career as a successful equestrian.
Known for her close relationship to fellow royals such as King Charles, Zara has grown into one of the most popular members of the Royal Family over the years. After marrying former England rugby professional Mike Tindall in July 2011, the pair have since welcomed three children – Mia, 11, Lena, six, and four-year-old Lucas.
Here, in celebration of her birthday, Express.co.uk looks back at 13 iconic pictures of the much-loved royal.
Zara Phillips was born on May 15, 1981 at St Mary’s Hospital in London. She is the only daughter of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips – and the eldest granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. She is currently 22nd in line to the royal throne, followed by her own children, Mia, in 23rd, Lena, in 24th, and Lucas, in 25th. As a member of the Great Britain Eventing Team, she won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, presented to her by her mother.

Zara Tindall stepped out alongside Princess Eugenie at the Cheltenham Festival in Gloucestershire last March. The cameras captured a sweet moment between the cousins as they walked arm-in-arm at the track – both sporting big smiles on their faces.
The 43-year-old oozed elegance in a blue pinstripe suit jacket paired with some matching straight-leg trousers. The mother-of-three accessorised the elegant navy suit with a burgundy blouse, leather gloves and a matching burgundy handbag as she beamed alongside Eugenie, who also looked chic for ‘Style Wednesday’.

As well as Eugenie, Zara is also close to her cousin Prince William – with her also sharing a close bond with his wife, the Princess of Wales. Mike is also said to share a “brotherly relationship” with William, 42. Speaking of their bond, royal expert Dickie Arbiter said: “[Mike is] down to earth, and William is too… They are two peas from the same pod, they’ve just had different upbringings. We’ve seen [this] time and again in William and Mike’s interactions. They are a proper family. They’re not playing at it.”

Like each year, Zara and her young family join the rest of the Royal Family for Christmas at Sandringham – and 2023 was no different.
Although she appeared to leave her son being looked after at home, the doting mum stepped out with Mike and their two daughters, Mia and Lena.
Much like Prince Louis, who is known for his cheeky antics, little Lena – then aged five – wasn’t afraid to show-off her mischievous side as she was spotted clinging onto her mum as they waited outside the church. Zara looked chic in a long green coat as she braved the chilly Christmas Day walk to church.
