You’re cooking chicken wrong – use easy hack for juicy meat

Lots of people love chicken because it’s tasty, good for you and can be packed with flavour.

But, when it comes to cooking chicken breasts, they can sometimes get a little dry. Now you don’t have to worry about this happening anymore.

This is because a viral cook, known as @ketorecipes on TikTok, has shared how to make the “juiciest chicken breasts ever”. He said they’re so easy to make and are practically “dripping with juice”.

Based on the video he shared, it’s fair to say they look rather tempting, and the steps to success are pretty simple. To begin, season your chicken breasts and marinate them.

The presenter uses some spices, yoghurt and lemon juice, but the “secret” is adding a tiny bit of baking soda. He said this will work to “soften up” the fibres in the meat.

Then, allow the meat to get to room temperature, and cook it on a medium heat with a lid on for three-and-a-half minutes. Next, flip it over in the pan, and cook for a further seven minutes.

When it’s done, let it rest for five minutes before serving. He said this will leave you with “perfect” chicken every time.

If you want his recipe, this is what he used:

  • Three chicken breasts
  • Half a teaspoon of baking powder
  • One teaspoon of oregano
  • One teaspoon of garlic powder
  • One teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • Two tablespoons of plain yoghurt
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Salt and pepper, to season

Since the video was shared, it’s been viewed more than 5,000 times. People were quick to comment too – and it looks as though many are looking for ways to jazz up their chicken.

One person advised: “If you have an air fryer, try wrapping in foil and cooking. So juicy.” Another added: “Stop. What. Trying!” A third also replied: “Your recipes are amazing – thank you.”

Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “Secret isn’t just baking soda, the lemon and room temperature is huge. Then rest it. He’s not wrong. Glistening pearly white and fork tender.”

Now that you’ve mastered that method, why not try John Torode’s recipe for delicious roast chicken.
