While items such as cutting boards and knifes should always be thouroughly cleaned in order to prevent cross contamination, some people might find they opt for the easy way out when cleaning other kitchen items, especially if they’re awkward to clean.
Cleaning kitchen appliances can be a tedious task, especially when you need to get in all of the nooks and crannies. Sometimes it can also pose a danger if they have sharp blades, like blenders or food processors.
To help make the clean up these appliances easier and less risky, one savvy woman named Amanda, who is known online as ‘AmandaSmartHacks’ has shared her ultimate washing up hack as it helps get your applicance clean in seconds without the risk of cutting your fingers or having to awkwardly scrub around the sharp blades.
“Why didn’t I know about this method before?” she wrote on the Instagram video, before adding in the caption: “This is the safest way to wash your blender.
In the video, Amanda is seen holding a dirty lid to her blender and a kitchen sponge, ready to get started with the cleaning. She then moves on to reveal there’s an easier way to get your blender clean without having to scrub.
How to clean a blender
Instead of scrubbing the head of the blender with a sponge, Amanda is seen filling the main compartment of her blender up with water, rinsing it through.
She then added a drop of washing up liquid before refilling it about a quarter of the way up with water. She then screwed on the dirty lid before walking over to the electrical part of the blender.
She then put the blender container and its lid back on the blender and started it for a few seconds, making the washing up liquid turn into foam as it was seen cleaning off the inside part of the blender.
As she went to unscrew the lid over her sink, she rinsed off the parts before revealing that both the container and the lid were sparking clean – without having to scrub it.
People quickly took to the comments of the video to share their amazment in Amanda’s hack – however some claimed they already knew about it.
“Doing since even before teenage days, glad you caught up,” one person wrote, while another person said: “This is an old method….but glad you know it now.”
“Every morning I had this intrusive thought of doing this. Somebody uploads this as an trick and gets 1 million viewss,” a third person said.
“Thank you!” another grateful viewer said. Meanwhile, another person suggested: “After adding dish wash liquid no need to run the mixer again… Just shake it well for 2-3 seconds and done…”
