Yellowstone star’s ‘nasty’ thriller that's ‘Jaws meets Silence of the Lambs’ is streaming

Yellowstone star Hassie Harrison’s new thriller that’s been described as a blend of some of the best horror movies of all time is now available to stream.

Dangerous Animals was released earlier this year and stars Harrison, who portrays Laramie in the hit Paramount Network Western series, as an American surfer named Zephyr who’s exploring the Gold Coast of Australia.

After a one-night stand with a real estate agent, she’s abducted by the psychopathic Tucker (played by Jai Courtney), who routinely kidnaps tourists and feeds them to sharks.

Miles out to see, Zephyr is forced to think on her feet and make some impossible decisions to ensure her safety.

While shark films have remained a horror staple for decades, many fans have already been pleasantly surprised by this grisly and thrilling twist on the genre.

Critic Mark Kermode called it “well made and tense”, though warned film fans it’s also “really nasty”.

It currently holds an incredible 87 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, so Dangerous Animals is well worth checking out at home now it’s available to stream on MGM+, via Prime Video.

You can get the streaming add-on for an additional £5.99 per month, or sign up to a free trial to watch the film and browse its extensive catalogue this weekend.

One particularly strong Google review raved: “The best way to describe this movie is Jaws meets Silence Of The Lambs meets Kill Bill. This movie is just unbearable tension filled utterly nerve jolting!

“Seriously if you like these sort of too good for comfort movies, make it your business to see this on the big screen.

“Jai Courtney delivers a too good for comfort performance without it being parody I mean shove an Oscar into his hand already & Hassie Harrison unquestionably delivers the credible goods.”

“Dangerous Animals might just be my favorite film of 2025,” someone else said in their five-star write-up.

“It’s a brilliantly subversive serial killer thriller that uses sharksploitation as bait and slasher tropes as its hook.

“There are some terrifying set pieces in the film, climaxing with a truly barnstorming and crowd-pleasing finale,” they added. “The two lead performances here are incredible.

“Hassie Harrison embodies ingenuity and strength as a heroine who refuses to be a victim, while Jai Courtney is absolutely magnificent as the killer out to prove that man is the most dangerous animal of all. Highly recommended!”

Whether you’re already a fan of the two stars or keen to dive into a refreshing yet brutal twist on a well-trodden genre, Dangerous Animals is not one to miss.

Dangerous Animals is available to stream on MGM+ via Prime Video.
