Extractor fan filters work hard to rapidly clear a kitchen of steam, fumes and odours when cooking, especially when frying greasy foods.
As the filters are out of sight on the underside of the kitchen hood, it’s all too easy to forget about them.
But, while cleaning hood filters may not be everyone’s favourite task in the kitchen, not doing so could affect the performance of your extractor fan as well as make it look unsightly.
Because grease is flammable, cleaning the filters can also prevent smoke or even fire.
Fans of Mrs Hinch have taken to the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Facebook page to share the easiest possible way to clean extractor fan filters without needing a dishwasher or spending hours scrubbing.
Nikki Baker posted pictures of her greasy-looking extractor fans before and after cleaning them and the after photos looked incredible.
She said: “Wow. So I cleaned my extractor fan tilter With Elbow Grease and it was only a five-minute job. I’m well chuffed with the results.”
Amy Thorne also found this spray to work in just five minutes without having to scrub.
Sharing before and after pictures, the cleaned extractor fan filter had no signs of yellow staining left behind.
Amy said: “I just sprayed Elbow Grease all over the filter and the yellow stains disappeared in five minutes.”
Taking to the comments section group members also found there same success when using this spray.
Jaclyn Mcgough said: “I left in for about five minutes and you literally see all the grease running off.”
Helen Martin warned: “I did mine in the dishwasher and it ruined them. Stick with that spray it’s so good.”
Vicky Wallace said: “Did mine yesterday. I soaked them in Elbow Grease and wiped it down with a sponge.”
Elbow Grease can be picked up from discount retailers such as B and M for £1.19 or at supermarkets like Tesco for £1.20 And £1.25 from Asda.
