Start spreading sweeping the news.
Behind mammoth home runs from Ben Rice and Cody Bellinger and sterling Cam Schlittler and Max Fried starts in Games 1 and 2, the New York Yankees made easy work of the Boston Red Sox in their quick Wild Card series.
Next up, Aaron Boone’s Bronx Bombers will take on Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz’s Tampa Bay Rays in a best-of-five AL Division Series.
If you’d like to be there, the two potential Yankees home games at Yankee Stadium are scheduled to go down on:
Game 3
Wednesday, Oct. 7
Game 4
Thursday, Oct. 8
And, at the time of publication, tickets are available.
Based on our findings, the lowest price we could find on seats for either game was $123 including fees on Vivid Seats.
Prices start at $123 including fees for games at Tampa Bay’s Tropicana Field.
As of now, the Yankees are yet to announce any of their starting pitchers but it’s likely Gerrit Cole will get the nod for New York since he was supposed to start Game 3 of the Wild Card Series.
“Gerrit’s lined up for that. Carlos is very much in play for that. We have a ton of confidence in both guys,” Boone said in a postgame interview.
Rays ace Drew Masmussen (16-5, 2.67 ERA) will throw for Kevin Cash’s scrappy club in Game 1.
No other starters have been revealed for either club yet but we expect Cam Schlittler, Max Fried and possibly Rodón to take the hill for the Yankees. Freddy Peralta, Shane McClanahan and Nick Martinez are likely Rays hurlers.
Over the course of the regular season, the AL East foes met 13 times; Tampa Bay took seven of those contests.
In their most recent showdown, New York won 6-4 at home on Sept. 24. Austin Wells and George Lombard homered for the Yankees and Michael Fulmer got the win in relief.
Keep an eye on this series; we expect a doozy.
