It looks like Christmas is about to get even more expensive, as Microsoft announces plans to increase the price of Xbox consoles in the US.
In an announcement on the Xbox support page, Microsoft told customers that Xbox Series X and Series S prices will increase by as much as $70 on October 3.
It’s the second time Microsoft has increased the price of Xbox Series X and Series S consoles in the past few months, having previously raised the prices in May.
According to Microsoft, the new prices are a reaction to changes in the “macroeconomic environment”.
“Beginning on October 3, we will update the recommended retailer pricing for Series S and Series X consoles in the United States due to changes in the macroeconomic environment,” Microsoft explains.
“We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration.
“Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and providing value for Xbox players.”
From October 3, the 2TB Xbox Series X will cost $799.99, which is up from the current price of $729.99. This makes it more expensive than the PS5 Pro, which is currently priced at $749.99.
The only positive is that prices for controllers, headsets and subscriptions will remain the same.
