The magic of Christmas is arguably unmatched, casting a spell of happiness over the festive period.
However, some people chase an extra dose of enchantment by travelling to destinations like Lapland as the big day approaches. Unfortunately for Lucy Josephs, known on TikTok as _footluce, her Christmas journey to Finland’s winter paradise this year left her in disbelief.
Anticipating a fairytale landscape upon her arrival, Lucy was instead confronted with a drastically altered view. In a viral TikTok video, which has racked up more than 30,000 views, she revealed her shock.
She said: “I need to show you what the outside looks like because it’s looking a little different this year. There’s no snow. There’s no snow in Lapland, and this has never happened before.
“It’s actually insane to see where I’ve always seen like covered six-foot deep in snow, ok not six foot, but however much, just green. I’m seeing so much that I’ve never seen before. Yeah, back for season three baby.”
After the video was shared, people were swift to air their opinions on the surprising lack of snow in the Christmas wonderland.
One person replied: “I’m travelling to Lapland in December, and I’ll be devastated for my kids if there’s no snow.”
Another said: “Snow in November is never guaranteed.” A third also replied: “Wait, that’s not good.”
However, there’s no need to worry if you’re heading to Lapland this year. In subsequent footage, it has been revealed that some areas in Lapland are boasting “huge” amounts of snow, offering a diverse experiences.
One particular clip shows North Lapland blanketed in white, evoking the idyllic imagery of a Christmas card scene. It looks like Lucy was really enjoying herself when she found what she was looking for.
