Woman frisked at airport as ‘private parts’ trigger security alarm | America | Travel

It’s safe to say that most people aim for a seamless airport experience, often employing various hacks to avoid travel disruptions. However, one woman recently found herself in a bit of a pickle during her travels, as an unexpected part of her attire kept setting off the security alarm, leaving her baffled.

Sharing her travel saga on TikTok, content creator a.l.i.xoxo offered a humorous piece of advice: never wear tracksuit bottoms to the airport. Upon discovering the cause of her security hiccup, she couldn’t help but chuckle at the amusing mistake she’d made.

Despite confessing her fondness for her Juicy Couture tracksuit, she conceded that it had landed her in a spot of bother at airport security. It seems they might be another addition to the list of items to avoid wearing while flying.

In the video, she revealed: “Just got frisked at the airport, and I almost got taken into a back room because, whenever I walked through the metal detector, my [private parts] flagged, and I was like ‘what?’

“I don’t have anything in my pants. You want to know what it was? C’mon Juicy. It was the Juicy bling.”

As many are aware, Juicy Couture tracksuits feature the word “juicy” emblazoned across the back in a diamante-like material. This appears to have been the culprit behind the alarm trigger.

The incident left people amused, as she couldn’t fathom what was triggering the issue. She appeared to see the funny side of the situation though.

One person commented: “Stop, you look like a doll.” To this, the content creator responded: “Omg, it was a super cute and comfy travel outfit, but the potential to get strip-searched is not worth it.”

Another chimed in with: “Omg, this happened to me, and they searched inside the hood. I was scared, especially because it flagged the front for some reason.”

A third also responded: “Oh no, I’m sorry your bling did this to you.” In the end, the security officer worked out what was causing the issue, so everything was resolved eventually.

What should you wear through airport security?

If you want a hassle-free experience through airport security, there are several things travellers are recommended to do. Generally, people are advised to choose straightforward, comfortable clothing and footwear that can be easily removed and put back on.

It’s also wise to steer clear of bulky garments, excessive metal and items that might set off alarms or require additional screening. You could also consider wearing a jacket with pockets for convenient storage of valuables and also choose slip-on shoes for swift removal.

Additionally, it’s best to avoid clothing with numerous zips, buttons or metal decorations, as these can set off alarms. Loose-fitting garments are also a sensible choice.

If you’re feeling a bit chilly, think about donning a lightweight jacket or jumper that can be swiftly taken off and stowed in a bin. This will aid in reducing any hold-ups when navigating through security.
