A woman has been forced to apologise after her severe diarrhoea single-handedly cancelled an entire flight. Meghan Reinertsen was travelling from Portugal back to the United States for a film premiere when “a disturbance deep, deep” in her bowels ignited.
Whilst on board a United Airlines flight last year, Meghan explained to her 20 million TikTok viewers that the sudden bout hit so fast that she remembered thinking that “something is happening” that she was not “prepared to deal with”. The writer and actress, making a living as a live-in nanny, had such bad diarrhoea that the flight was grounded and specialists were called to clear it up. Apologising in a now-viral TikTok video, Meghan wishes those affected to know that it wasn’t “without pain and suffering” on her end.
“I single-handedly got a flight out of Indianapolis cancelled,” an apologetic Reinertsen announced to her millions of TikTok viewers. “If that flight cancellation changed the trajectory of your life in a really negative way, I’m so sorry.”
The violent diarrhoea started while she was flying from Portugal back to the States. On her first flight Meghan fell asleep, hoping the flight would pass quickly and she could carry on with her travels. After landing in New York’s Newark Airport Meghan barely made it through customs.
However, worse was still yet to come. On her second plane Meghan raced to the bathroom to do her business, despite the seatbelt signs still being on to prevent a public accident.
She said: “I couldn’t let that happen to me so for the next 20 minutes, I have more diarrhea than any human should have in their life.”
She recalled: “I’m full body sweating, I’m crying, my insides are cramping.”
Amid her horrific bout of diarrhoea Meghan started to be sick, prompting Reinertsen her to call a flight attendant for urgent assistance.
After throwing up in a bag provided by the cabin crew member. She was informed when she emerged from the toilet that the next scheduled departure on the plane had to be cancelled due to the mess that she had caused.
She admitted that specialist cleaners in hazmat suits were needed to deal with the fallout, as she was wheelchaired off the plane and taken to the baggage area.
She said: “They cancelled that flight because of me. The hazmat team [had] to come in and clean it, because [they didn’t] know if I’d brought [a disease] back from Portugal,” Reinertsen said with a groan.”
The cause of the disaster she blames on a couple of bites of an under-cooked burger in Portugal the night before she flew.
