Wolves boss Vitor Pereira was restrained by stewards as furious supporters confronted him on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred following the team’s devastating 3-2 home defeat to Burnley in the Premier League, with the manager now clinging to his job after a disastrous run of results.

Zian Flemming struck first for the Clarets at Molineux after just 14 minutes, before doubling his side’s tally moments later. Jorgen Strand Larsen and Marshall Munetsi then struck for the hosts to ensure they went into the break level. But the second period proved catastrophic for Wolves.

Just as the team appeared set to salvage at least a point from the clash, Lyle Foster had different ideas.

Deep into added time, the striker broke through Wolves’ defence to latch onto Hannibal’s pinpoint delivery, before slotting past Sam Johnstone with consummate ease.

In a gesture of unity with supporters, Wolves players made their way to the stands following the final whistle – only to face a chorus of boos and chants of: “We want Fosun out,” targeting the Chinese conglomerate who purchased the Midlands outfit for £45million in 2016.

Matters became particularly heated when Pereira approached the fans, engaging in a heated exchange with sections of the crowd as loud jeers echoed around him. He was subsequently escorted away by stewards and members of his coaching staff.

Wolves have had a disastrous start to the 2025/26 Premier League season, languishing at the bottom of the table with a mere two points from their first nine matches.

Their record so far includes no victories, two draws and seven defeats.

And they are two points behind West Ham, who are struggling in 19th place, three points adrift of Nottingham Forest in 18th, and a significant six points away from Fulham in 17th.

“I understand the frustration of the supporters, but only if it’s a game that the players don’t work hard to get the result,” Pereira told Sky Sports after the match.

“It’s frustration, but the team deserves the support. I do my work – I do the best I can to help my team. My mind is in the details to help my team, to work tactically.

“We showed our ambition to win the game, but at the end of the day, this is football.”
