The lucky winner of this week’s EuroMillions has come forward to claim their staggering £208 million prize. The winning ticket was bought in County Cork, Ireland – marking the country’s 18th and biggest ever jackpot – and the name of the shop that sold the ticket will be announced in Friday.
The winning numbers were 13, 22, 23, 44, and 49, and the Lucky Stars were three and five. It’s been three years since the last Irish EuroMillions winner in February 2022, when a ticket bought in Ballina, County Tipperary secured a £25 million prize. Irish National Lottery CEO Cian Murphy urged the winner to “stay calm” amid the shock of the “massive” win.
The jackpot was the largest prize awarded in the UK if won by a single ticket-holder, National Lottery operator Allwyn said.
The EuroMillions jackpot is capped once it reaches €250 million – or £208 million.
Under the current rules, once the total amount has reached its cap and if there is no winner, it stays at this value for a further four draws until it must be won in the fifth draw.
Irish National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have heard from our EuroMillions winner.
“At this point, our priority is to give them the necessary time and space to make arrangements and let this life-changing news sink in.”
No other details have been released at this stage, so it’s not known whether the winner will make their identity public.
