It’s been a scintillating start to 2025 Wimbledon, with big-name casualties having already fallen across both the men’s and women’s draws. The likes of Daniil Medvedev, Lorenzo Musetti, Coco Gauff and Qinwen Zheng were defeated in their opening matches, leaving the competition wide open and increasing the chance of a surprise winner.
Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka, who are both in action on day three, will be hoping to avoid the curse of the seeded players, having both progressed through their opening round matches. Alcaraz didn’t have it easy against veteran Fabio Fognini, and his reward is a meeting against British debutant Oliver Tarvet, who defeated Leandro Riedi in straight sets. Stick around as Express Sport covers all of the latest news and views from Wimbledon.
