Oliver Tarvet earned £99,000 for reaching the second round but will be forced to give most of it away.
He attends university in the United States and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) require athletes to stay amateur.
Tarvet is able to claim up to £7,282 in expenses as well as the expenses he has incurred during the tournament.
However, he will miss out on the vast majority of his Wimbledon payout, which will go to his university.
