Fans of Wicked are buzzing with excitement following the release of the trailer for Wicked: For Good, which marks the final instalment of the grand adaptation of the musical.

The extensive trailer teases a whirlwind of events as Elphaba, portrayed by Cynthia Erivo, finds herself vilified by The Wizard, played by Jeff Goldbluff, and branded as The Wicked Witch of the West.

She is driven into exile in the Ozian forest as she attempts to unmask him.

Meanwhile, Glinda (Ariana Grande) is leading a glamorous life, embodying goodness in Oz and residing in the Emerald City palace.

Madame Morrible, played by Michelle Yeoh, has recruited her to reassure the citizens of Oz that everything is fine under The Wizard’s rule, reports the Mirror US.

Furthermore, Glinda and the handsome Prince Fiyero, played by Jonathan Bailey, exchange vows in a storybook wedding, despite his past feelings for Elphaba.

Glinda even attempts to facilitate peace talks between The Wizard and Elphaba, but whether these will be successful remains to be seen.

Adding to this, Elphaba’s sister Nessarose, played by Marissa Bode, finds herself in peril due to the sudden appearance of a girl from Kansas.

The trailer shows mobs rising against The Wicked Witch of the West as Elphaba and Glinda must unite to confront the real villain of Oz.

At one point, The Wizard demands Elphaba’s broom to be confiscated, but it’s Fiyero who returns it to her.

The film’s chilling catchphrase, “You will be changed”, teases a narrative brimming with surprises as it unwinds towards the finale.

Characters Glinda and Elphaba are set to embark on a journey of self-discovery and understanding, aiming to transform themselves and the Land of Oz positively.

One eager fan gushed on YouTube, saying: “Wicked was wicked, can’t wait to see how this one will be! ! !”.

Another viewer reflected, “Puts the Wizard of Oz in a whole new perspective now…. The wizard has always been the evil one…. So much for my childhood.”

Excitement overwhelmed another commenter who expressed: “Ugh what a time to be alive…. if the trailer has me this emotional than I just know the movie is going to have me boo-hooing in ugly tears [sic].”

Someone else simply exclaimed: “Wow just wow what can I say.”

Audiences can anticipate the original stellar lineup reuniting for Wicked: For Good, delivering what promises to be an epic conclusion with stars like Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Sharon D. Clarke.

Its predecessor set a high bar, becoming the most triumphant Broadway-based film ever.

Not only did Wicked leave an indelible mark on cinema but its press tour footage also erupted across the internet, sparking a cultural frenzy.
