Fans of the hit blockbuster Wicked are excited as the first teaser for the new film has been unveiled.
Wicked is based on the classic 1939 musical The Wizard of Oz which gives the untold story of the witches of Oz. Released in November 2024, Wicked stars Ariana Grande as Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.
The major Universal Pictures film ended on a cliffhanger and now the first glimpse of the sequel, Wicked: For Good, has been released as it was shown at CinemaCon, an annual event only open to to those involved in the movie industry that involves exclusive Hollywood product presentations debuting a number of upcoming films and premiere feature screenings.
Discussing Film, an attendee of the convention, revealed on social media platform X that the first teaser for Wicked: For Good was shown at CinemaCon and it is giving live updates and exclusive footage descriptions from the Universal and Focus Features CinemaCon 2025 studio presentation, taking place at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas.
Fans have shared their excitement about the new film on X. One said: “We’re finally getting a peek at Wicked For Good after all the buzz.” Another added: “Wow so exciting, can’t wait.”
A third commented: “This is beyond exciting! Can’t wait to see what magic they’ve cooked up for this iconic production.” While a fourth chimed in: “I’m so excited for Wicked For Good.” A fifth remarked: “I will be watching this masterpiece.”
Several fans begged Discussing Film to release the teaser but it is not open to the public yet. Wicked: For Good will see Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater and Marissa Bode as the main cast members.
The movie news source gave a detailed description of the exclusive footage displayed at CinemaCon on its website. It shared that sitting on the panel, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jon M,Chu and Marc Platt showed attendees a new trailer for Wicked: For Good.
Discussing Film said the trailer begins with Elphaba confronting Glinda on the balcony of her new home in the Emerald City before cutting to a “retro Universal Studios logo.” Then, Cynthia’s take on ‘No Good Deed’ booms as Elphaba is shown starting a revolution in the land of Oz, writing ‘The Wizard Lies’ in the sky as she flies off on her broom.
Discussing Film added: “The trailer then transitions into Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s new take on ‘For Good’ – there are brief flashes of Glinda’s wedding sequence, walking the floor covered in flying lights mirroring Jon M Chu’s famous Crazy Rich Asians shot. We never see her face, but we are also shown glimpses of Dorothy and her companions on the yellow brick road as well as talking to the Wizard.”
A key moment, according to the movie news source, is when Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero points his gun at Ozian soldiers and hands Elphaba her broom. The chorus of ‘For Good’ increases as Elphaba and Glinda hold hands and talk about their friendship.
In a “big climatic sequence”, Elphaba reportedly confronts the Wizard in his chamber with her broom before a final shot of her “zooming away” from the flying wizards cutting to the Wicked: For Good title card. The highly anticipated Wicked sequel is set to be released on November 21, 2025.
