Richard Hammond’s mother’s Mazda MX5 is fully restored by his team and sold for charity. His team also got to work on fixing up a classic Golf GTI – despite hefty restoration costs.
Mike said:”I’m not in it for the money. I’m never in it for the money. I’m just in it to save the car, rescue the car, keep interesting classic cars alive, help achieve people’s dreams.
“If you can make a small little profit off it at the end of it, brilliant! If you don’t, it doesn’t matter. You had fun along the way, and you got to experience an amazing car.”
The new series is just one of Mike’s TV projects, with two new series of Wheeler Dealers expected in 2025.
Production crews are already underway on the second series of Wheeler Dealers: World Tour with a UK-based show also set to be developed later this year.
Mike added he still gets a massive buzz out of restoring a vehicle even if he doesn’t make much money.
He said: “The car game has been really good to me over the years. One Automotive needs to make money because it’s got to pay staff, but fun cars like the Golf GTI, James’s DS, Richard Hammond’s mum’s car… all of those cars.”
