Ubisoft has released a new update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, just days after the game launched for consoles and PC.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows title update 1.01 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. As you can see from the patch notes further down the page, the new hotfix doesn’t make sweeping changes across the board, which is why the hefty file size comes as a bit of a surprise.
According to Ubisoft, the update weighs in at a sizeable 8.8GB on Xbox Series X|S, 7.03GB on PC and 9GB on Mac. It’s better news for PS5 owners, who only need to free up 1.41GB on space for the new update.

According to the patch notes, the patch primarily focuses on improving overall stability within the game.
This wide-reaching change should result in a smoother gameplay experience, and lessen instances of crashes. This is good news for a big open-world game like Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
There are also a couple of platform-specific fixes for PlayStation 5 users and players enjoying the game on PC.
As you can see from the patch notes below, these particular fixes are for crashes caused by the Photo mode.
Another positive change, this means you shouldn’t have to worry about the game crashing when using the in-game camera tool for posting on social media.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows update 1.01 patch notes…
• StabiliSation – Fixed some global issues
• [PS5] Fixed a Photo mode issue that could cause a crash when fetching photos to display on the world map.
• [PC] Fixed a Photo mode issue that could cause a crash when taking a photo.
The update is available less than a week after Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched to critical-acclaim.
The game has an impressive 81% score on Metacritic and a ‘Very Positive’ user-rating over on Steam.
The positive reception has also seemingly translated to sales, after it was reported that Assassin’s Creed Shadows passed 2 million players after just a few days.
“2 MILLION PLAYERS! We’re thrilled to celebrate this incredible milestone!” reads an Ubisoft post on X. “Assassin’s Creed Shadows has now surpassed the launches of AC Origins and Odyssey. Thank you for joining the journey in Feudal Japan!”
