Liverpool boss Arne Slot shared the text message that Jurgen Klopp sent him after Premier League glory was secured. Celebrations were kick-started with the Reds’ 5-1 victory over Tottenham, with their former head coach more than happy about the success.
Slot was speaking publicly for the first time since securing the title on his first season in England. He lavished praise on Klopp during the Anfield scenes last Sunday, thanking him for leaving such a talented squad that was able to fend off Arsenal at the top of the table.
Slot sang Klopp’s name to the same tune that the previous coach did to give the Dutchman his public blessing during an emotional Anfield farewell 12 months ago.
Picking up where the now-Red Bull chief left off, Slot revealed the exact message Klopp said in his pre-match press conference: “I got a message from Jurgen. He said congratulations and now you know how special the club is and you are a part of history. He was really happy for me and the players and the fans.”
Liverpool did not lift the title after beating Spurs and instead will do so on the final day of the season against Crystal Palace, with matches against Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton to come first.
