Gardeners have been urged to try one easy trick to quickly kill all the weeds in their gardens without tools or chemicals. According to gardening expert Kevin Lee Jacobs, newspaper makes weeds instantly disappear.

It also supposedly prevents them from re-emerging for an entire season, if not longer. First, water the bed deeply. Then, lay paper directly on top of the weeds and between the ornamental plants.

Spray the newspaper with water. Otherwise, a strong wind will blow and send your papers flyinf, whereas wet paper will not budge. Finally, top the paper with three inches of shredded leaves. Shredded wood chips make a fine mulch, too. You can also use cardboard instead of the paper.

YouTube famous gardener Brittany Bailey’s process starts with donning protective clothing, safety glasses, and gloves. She then asserts that the “key to knocking out English ivy is to first cut or score the vines.”

Then, pull back the ivy several feet away from the tree, ensuring to cut any vines running over the tree roots. Avoid pulling the vines off the tree, as this could harm it. Over time, they’ll die and loosen their grip.

Brittany suggested the next step is to use a chemical weed killer. However, if you prefer a natural approach, she recommends using white vinegar.

Infinite Paving has revealed the simple way to bring your garden patio back to life, without needing tools or strong chemicals. They said mouthwash was “surprisingly effective” as it contains enough alcohol to clean and deter pests, but not enough to damage patio tiles.

All you need to do is add mouthwash to a spray bottle and spray it on your patio. It could also be worth spraying your garden furniture, as these can be “a breeding ground for bacteria and dirt”.

If your patio needs a scrub before being properly cleaned, Gardener’s World recommends sweeping off any leaves and plant debris and using a stiff-bristled brush to loosen moss and weeds.
